Putting a Screen Snapshot in a File

How many time have you said "I wish I could save what I have on the screen into a file"?
Well on windows this is easy. (I have not tried it on window vista. The only people I know that had it at one time, returned their computer to the store to have window XP installed instead).
This a two step process:

  1. Save a screen-shot: Press the key marked "Print Scrn" usually just above the insert key on your keyboard. Sometime that key is marked as "SysReq" or has both marking.
  2. Paste the whole picture into Gimp, or any other graphic software (even Microsoft Paint, works, but the resizing options are limited, among other things). I always use Gimp, because sometimes I need to cut part of the screen, plus I may need to save a scaled down version of it.

Where can I get Gimp?
How Much does it Cost?
Gimp is free.
Gimp can also be used to generate Buttons, Logos, Background Tiles, etc., for your Blog or web site.
